In 1607, three ships  from England arrive in Virginia to build Jamestown, the first English settlement in the U. S.  Captain John Smith (Colin Farrel).  soon meets Pocahontas (Q'orianka Kilcher), daughter of the tribal king.  She saves Smith's life when the king orders his death.  Thus begins the journey of a young Indian woman who saves the English, marries an Englishman (Christian Bale as John Rolfe), learns the ways of the English, and visits England .  Her story has been celebrated through the centuries, and this version, beautifully directed by Terrance Malick with music by James Horner, takes us straight into the heart of this early American adventure romance.  Rated PG-13 (135 min.) mike laib 2012.
