Holly Martins, an out-of-work writer, (Joseph Cotton) is invited to Vienna to work for his old friend Harry Lime (Orson Wells).  Martins learns that  Lime has died.  He soon becomes suspicious.  Was it murder?  He questions Major Calloway (Trevor Howard), Baron Kurtz (Ernst Deutsch), and especially Anna Schmidt (Alida Valli), whom he may be falling in love with.  But nothing can prepare Holly Martins for what he finally discovers about Harry Limes and about himself in this murder mystery which has been ranked as one of Hollywood's all-time classic movies.  Directed by Carol Reed.   Written by Graham Greene.  Winner of Academy Award for Cinematography.   Rated R (104 min.) mike laib 2012.
