After the 1979 revolution in Iran, six American Embassy workers are trapped inside the home of the Canadian Ambassador.  This true-life drama, directed by Ben Affleck (Academy Award: Best Motion Picture) shows how his character, Tony Mendez is able to help the Americans escape by pretending they are going to film a Hollywood movie in Iran.  To make it seem real, Mendez gets the help of Hollywood make-up artist, John Chambers (John Goodman), and film producer, Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin).  The plan is so crazy that  the U.S. government and the Americans in hiding don't trust it.  Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is begins to learn the truth.  The clock is ticking as Mendez tries to get the Americans out of Tehran before it's to late.  Rated R (120 min.) mike laib 2013.

Classroom Tips:

1. Preview both the movie and its lesson. Lesson and movie are in the same sequence.

3. Estimate how you'll use available time for both watching and discussing the movie.
4. Remember: Most questions on the lesson are easy for a native speaker of English to answer, so the movie itself is the answer key.
