A the beginning of the movie, the protagonist, Lightning Macqueen is selfish. He care about his own person, he think that he does not need anyone no win the race and he treat his own team without any respect. Moreover, he is very egocentric; he likes the attention that the media give to him and all the world of luxury that the racer fame bring to him. Also he is competitive and ambitious since he seems to only live for being the first one and win the race.
At the end of the movie, the protagonist drastically changed. He discovers that family and love are really important values in life. When he starts understanding this with the help of some citizen of the little town called, Radiator Springs, he really want to help them and show them that he want to be their friend. Especially when he fall in love with Sally and also when he found out about the real Doc Hudson.
One of the most important scene when we can found out that the protagonist changed is when Duc call the media to said to them where they can found Mcqueen. When the media arrive in Mass expecting to found the racer they use to know, Mcqueen starts to feel that he does not have the need to feel the attention of the media and to apparent good in front of the cameras. He starts to worried about his people, about Sally and even about his own truck. When he finally arrive to California for the race he is not the same knowing that he left away his people. At the moment he is hearing Duc in the headphones, he really want to give his best not only for him but also for his friends. An other scene that shows that Macqueen is an other person, is at the end of the race, when he is about to win, Chick the antagonist of the movie, push out The King who has a terrible accident. Instead of finishing the race as a winner, Macqueen go to help The King to finish the race. At this moment, we can understand that the protagonist figure out that life is not everytime about fame and winning.
