O Brother, Where Art Thou?: FIST FIGHT IN THE WOOLWORTH

It looked like a small laundryshop. Because, there were some clothes and towels. Maybe it can be a public bath place but i don't think

that exited that time. Or that place might be a locker room, because outside people were singing, it means it there can be a kind of festival or party.

So in that building we can change our clothes and buy some towels or swimming suit. After that we go out and swimming.

It was interesting movie they showed us how was America at that time.
The clothes it was cheaper and also people style it was simple not like now.

For me I guess this part of the movie gave me a picture of the lifestyle at that time which is apparently very old stuffs and classic things. Also, I think it is the same in every place that in the past every thing is cheap because the currency were worth more. For example, they had a towel that they can buy it with only 10 cents which is now impossible. Anyway, even thought this is normal, that shows as that it was difficult to find a job in the 30s, which leads some people to create their own job by doing any thing even though it's illegal. Finally, I thinks this Fistfight showed as that on that time many people solved their problems by fighting not by the low.

From the short sequence, we could have a glance at the 1930s America. Because of the economic downturn, the prices of the goods in the Woolworth Store were very low; people wore simple clothes; having a job became one of the most important things ever.

The short sequence is sarcastic and funny, and it shows the typical way how a comedy works: audience always laugh at the misfortune of the characters on the screen. It's quite a funny scene that Mr. McGill found his wife had a new daughter and was going to marry another man. However, as the audience, we could also feel his sadness and helplessness when he went through the biggest change in his life.

People who lived in 1930s might be easy and plain. Their living cost might be lower than now in America.
Besides, a wife was humiliated by the husband who was put in jail and did not have a job. To survive, the wife may marry another guy. A man needs to have a job so he can afford the burden for a family.

I think how people in 1930s deal with problems—fistfight—is really primitive and direct. Also, from the scene we can see that the color of the film is earth yellow and a little bit monotonous. Maybe it represents the depression that people are suffering from. The goods in the Woolworth are relatively simple. I think people in 1930s are actually live with material scarcity and insecurity.

One of the greatest movies i have ever saw.
It shows American's life in the past.
I like their clothes it was very simple, they didn't wear expensive things.

2. People were using and were able to understand older latin english.
3. The law system was not good enough.
4. The clothes on Vernon, Penny and the man in Woolworth were classic.
