What I have been thinking about Autism since I watched both Rain Man and Ted Talks by Wendy Chung is that I doubt about reality, being unloved people who are diagnosed with ASD. If I were a his mother, I would devote my time and money to caring of them unlike Raymannd's parents. Even though he had been able to hurt Charlie, I would have taken care of both of them.
Children have no ability to distinguish right from wrong, and especially because if the children were diagnosed with disability disease, I would say that they need our sincere attention. In the reality, there is a lot of stuff in the field of medical treatment that we have never known or heard in our society. In this movie, his parents decided that they did not bringing Raymannd, it is just because he would hurt his younger brother. Those behaviors that his parents did do not make sense. At least if they are parents, they should not have abandoned their child. It's also kind of human being.
Think! What if he was not treated with contempt from the public eyes? Another thing that I want to say is that because it is just movie, and it was even for a long time ago, of course at the time there was few treatments for ASD, not like now. With a little research which is published by International Meeting for Autism Research on May, 12th, I could discovered that ASD could care before those who were diagnosed with it, examined something different methods. For example, parents, who might have ASD child for any reason, try to use video feedback, they understand communication cues, and they send a signal to their baby. Then, the baby will be adopted training methods one by one. I'm not saying that children with ASD can be cured, but I'm saying that it does not have to be because they also have another capable of doing something.
