Training Day is one of my favorite films, so I decided to leave a small review here.
A rookie policeman, Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke), goes to work in the elite anti-drug unit of the Los Angeles Police Department. Jake falls under the start of police veteran Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington). Alonzo has learned that it is useless to fight with legal methods with this evil, and therefore chose a kind of philosophy that balances on the verge of good and evil. As a result, on the first working day, his inexperienced «choir boy» faces a moral dilemma - either play according to the rules of his mentor, or rebel against him.
«Come on, wolf! Come on, dog!»
Jake Hoyt. An honest policeman who does not take bribes, will not use drugs and will not pass by drug addicts who are trying to rape a girl. A person with high moral standards, honest and kind. A real fighter with crime.
«You can shoot me, but you can not kill!»
Alonzo Harris. The exact opposite of Jake. Alonzo cares only about himself, for this he is ready to betray his friend, steal and even kill. Human life for him does not mean anything, he's a good liar and certainly very smart. Denzel Washington has ideally played it, here to him low bow from me and all fans of cinema for brilliant acting game.
"You figure that joke out, you'll figure the streets out"
The actions of the film unfold in just one day, during which time you manage to visit the heroes in different parts of the city. Particularly good is the criminal district where all criminals stand for each other like a mountain. Impressive, and delight the ear with two soundtracks: the first - Dr. Dre - Still Dre, the second - a gloomy-exciting soundtrack. A bright and unusual atmosphere reminds me of scenes from the GTA: dangerous guys, «strange» girls, instead of long conversations - shooting without warning.
The whole movie looks at one go, the dialogues are really interesting. The film can be rewatched many times and it will not get bored.
Thanks to Ethan Hawke, Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua for this Great movie.
