Manolo doesn’t like bull fighting, and he also doesn’t like to hurt the bull if the bull lose the game. He think this behavior is really merciless.

When they were children, they both like the girl. They tried to give the girl gift when she went abroad. Then when they be a adult, they fight to each other to want to win the Maria’s heart.

Because he thinks that bull fighting is inhuman and the bulls should be well treated rather thank be killed with violent. His dream is to become a musician, to express love to the world, rather than hate.
Q2: What strategies do Manolo and Joaquin use to win Maria's heart?
Manolo uses his music and gentleness to saying love vows to Maria. He sings songs under Maria's balcony, and show his respect to Maria. Joaquin, however, uses his honors as a solder and strength of him as a tool and tries to gain Maria's love.

Land of the Remembered is the place where people may go after they pass away. Land of Forgotten is the place that candle maker lives.
