It was one of the [most] awful documentary movie[s] that I have watched before. I think that I did not need to watch this movie, because I can expect what will happen if he has a lot of high calories foods. Of cause, he got fat. In addition, his blood pressure and the other apparatuses became bad.

I was really surprised at the lunch menu of elementary school. The lunch is really different from Japan. In Japan, we eat rice, side dishes, and soup. On the other hand, most of lunch menu were high calories such as fries, cake and pizza in America. And also, they do not need to pick that they do not like to eat. I thought how well-balanced Japanese foods are.

I did not know that eating too much fast food is easy to get depression. From the film, I learned how bad fast foods are for our health again. I will take care eating habits during my stay in America.

Teacher's note: I've watched Super Size Me several times now, and I must admit it's not the most fun, but it reminds me like good medicine that "I am what I eat." Even this time as I watched it, I had forgotten some of the details like how fast food affects our moods. And I can see how it has such a strong grip on my daughter. I could go on and on. I also have observed how fast food nation affects many of my students. I have actually observed some of them gain lots of weight etc.

I am pleased to hear that in Japan, schools serve a healthy menu of food. As you can see from the menu above (from my daughter's school this very September) that the menu leaves much to be desired. And yes, most of the food comes out of large tin cans. Thanks for being first to post here.

Hi!

This movie was very impressive. At (the) first (time), I thought this movie was like a comedy, but my expectation was totally betrayed. I couldn't laugh the miserable result of this experiment. This movie made me reflect the danger of eating fast foods too much.

And also, I was surprised by the fact that this experiment affected the fast foods' shops in the U.S very much. One man's challenge changed U.S's fast foods and made people recognize the danger of their life styles. To be honest, genre of documentaries were not familiar for me, but I saw the new possibility of documentary from this movie.

I think this movie's good point is transmitting a serious problem with funny phenomenon. Therefore, many people could enjoy watching it, and "Super Size Me" became a powerful movie.

Anyway, I enjoyed this movie! Thank you.

Teacher's note: I could not believe how big a Super-Size soft-drink container is! And that one poor chap who could not get out of bed until he had the Johann Strauss bypass surgery, all because he had gulped down a couple of those monster cups a day for a few years. Sad. Well, from what I can surmise, it would not be easy for such a person to change their life habits in a way that would allow them to lose weight and become healthier. They deserve our support. I am glad you enjoyed the movie. Thanks for checking in.

Morgan Spurlock was first excited about his experiment. It was the first time that a person attempt to record and produce a movie about practical fast food diet. His plan was to have 3 meals a day from Macdonald. But as the movie progressed he was afraid due to the health issues that he encounters from eating fast food.

The information and facts were very surprising to me and I never thought that fast food damages the body organ that quick.
Before coming to the state I knew that fast food here plays a vital role in life of many Americans but I have never thought that it is embedded as a daily life habit.

How does the lunch menu below compare in nutrition value to a lunch menu in your country?

I believe that every country nowadays are influenced by the fast food industries. It is the matter of making the right choices as individual.
The movie illustrate the shocking facts about fast food industries and how they are damaging our bodies. It is a must to watch for all.

Teacher's note: "A call to action" is what I hear. I too was surprised at how quickly fast food begins to damage the body and how long (almost a year) it took Morgan Spurlock to recover from a 30-day binge. I wonder if this author thinks the problem ends with fast food? Have you noticed how salty, and fatty, and BIG the portions are at many American restaurants, especially the franchises? Be careful with your food choices. Thanks for a well-syntaxed post.

Definitely need to watch this movie.

We live in a world where everyone wants to be of benefit. And no matter what it is worth. McDonald produces unhealthy food. Everybody knows it, but continue[s] to go there. It is our choice. It is our health. We need to be aware of. That's why films like this should be shown.

I used to ask question. "How can they sleep?" Those who produce this food? It is the wrong question in the free world market trade. Need to ask "What depends on me?" Just make the right choice.

Teacher's note: So knowing how bad the food is, one has to think the people in McDonalds management are evil. Right? Let's go to YouTube and type in its name. I found a whole list of videos starting with this one at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6MHDLX2mac.

(44:45)

We can "meet" some of the real people behind the company and hear their feelings about what it means to work at McDonalds. In the end, like this author says, it's all about making a choice. Big thank for an insightful post.

Hello

I hope that every American should watch this movie for their health. I didn't know about SUPER SIZE. In my country and US also have Small and Middle and Large but.. the super size is too much big. In this movie Morgan Spurlock try [tries] to eat super size McDonald's but it takes more than 30 mins and finally he throws everything up. I'm really surprised about that because before I complete to watch this movie, I think I will try super size.

But I realize that I can't. And I see his fattening process and after 30 days, he gets [gains] weight and becomes laze. I think it is terrible and also it is really big problem in US.
If he keeps eating like that, he also can be fat person and laze[y] and finally can't control his body.

How does the lunch menu below compare in nutrition value to a lunch menu in your country? I think we call that foods 'heavy foods' and we don't prefer super size for lunch in my country. but, these days, everyone likes to eat fat foods and big size so I think now Korean is becoming like that. So I recommend this movie!!!

Teacher's note: So, just as American fast food has spread throughout the world, so have our big eating habits. I'm glad this author caught the double jeopardy created by the fast-food industry. As always, it's important to check for GPS before posting (spelling, punctuation). Thanks for a savory helping of your thoughts.

This documentary impressed me! But not because he [Morgan Spurlock] gained weight and his health was critical, this is what expects will happen to someone who eats only fast food, always super size, for 30 days.

First, I was impressed with the time he took to recover his health.

Second, how schools do not care about the health of the children?

And third, how people can eat without even know the information about what they are eating?

I don’t know how this guy can do this experience, but serves as a warning to society. Everyone should watch this documentary, at least to be aware of what is causing to your body!

Teacher's note: This author says a mouthful about how we can live in ignorant bliss about our gaunt eating habits. I am especially concerned about what happens in our elementary schools since my daughter currently attends one and will be off to middle school next year. Thanks for a satiating post.

This movie surprised me a lot!

Firstly, I was surprised at American elementary school lunch. They can choose their meals by themselves. They can eat deep-fried food, hamburger, pizza, and no vegetables is possible. In Japan, nutritionists consider children's health balance and organize the menu for children. Elementary, and Junior high school students can have a lunch box that contains vegetables, meat or fish, beans, and small dessert. The lunch box prevents us from eating too much, and having too much calories. It must be difficult for small children to care about their health and choose food that help them keep healthy.

Secondly, I was surprised to see the amount of sugar that Morgan had in one month McDonald's. I am not sure but maybe there were eight big containers of sugar? to indicate that he took these sugar. It was unbelievable...

Thirdly, I was impressed by Morgan's challenge. He did it till the end. It was amazing.

This movie gave me a fearful image of American food culture. I had a knowledge that fast food and american food contains a lot of sugar, but this time I could know that visually and clearly. It was interesting.
Thank you!

Teacher's note: The fact that Morgan Spurlock was even able to complete his mission makes him a people's hero of sorts. I wouldn't have lasted a week. Thanks for detailing the Japanese system of school-lunch distribution. I especially like the part where the portions are limited by the size of the box. Delectable concept worthy of duplication! Great post, author.

This movie was very interesting. In Korea, there is no super size.. When I saw the super size in LA, it was horrible. As we expected, the super size meal is very harmful for us. It influence[s] not only our weight, but also blood pressure, five senses, moreover our lifestyle. Also, I was surprised when I saw the scene that many schools in US don't care about students' health.

After I watched this documentary movie, I understood why there are so many obese people in US. I hope that many people watch this movie, and change their meal habits.

Teacher's note: I hope so too. Another comment about the American school system. Is anybody here in the U.S. hearing this? And yes, all that fast food impacts us in oh so many ways. Tasty post.

I don’t how I can describe my feeling after watching Super Size Me. If I was laughing, smiling, or surprising or all of them, in fact, I realized that fast food hides many things more than what we know.

Mr. Morgan Spurlock eats every day for a month different types of foods from MacDonald to show us what happens for our bodies when we eat fast food daily. He is a healthy man with perfect organ functions like liver, lung, blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart. However, his bodily functions change significantly during the experiment. Liver enzymes increase to levels that drinker who has. Moreover, his weight is increased dramatically with cholesterol level.

During this documentary, Morgan shows some schools how and what they feed their students. Furthermore, advertisements affect on children. It is really an outstanding movie I have ever seen before. It has a lot of information about nutrition especially when the professor gives the definition of calories that is the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water through 1 °C.

Unfortunately, I will admit that I cannot stop eating from fast food, but I will try to decrease as much as can. ;) ;)

Teacher's note: Isn't this amazing, that even when we know the truth about what is bad for us, we still cannot resist the temptation. This strange addiction to fast food is a metaphor for so many attractions to things we know are wrong, but we still want them and do them. Why is this? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get me a triple Big Mac and wash it down with a river of kerosene. Thanks for posting.
