My favorite scene is when Richard Parker was sleeping on Pi's lap. I got the feeling of friendship and harmony. Even they looked like enemies before, they need each other eventually. Also, the CG of Richard Parker was very good. It looked like a real tiger although the reality is ..

We can obviously see that Richard Parker and Pi are friends. They didn't seem like good friends at first, but finally they are. Actually, I can remember that Pi said, "Without Richard Parker, I would have died by now". I think Richard Parker was also like Pi's obstacles that Pi had to overcome. To become a successful person, everyone has to overcome a lot of obstacles. Without obstacles, the life is not life.
When elder Pi says,"Which story do you prefer?" It really means about faith. There are two stories. The first one is a fantastic story with god, and the second one is just a boring story. When the writer said, "The one with the tiger" , and Pi said,"Thank you. And so it goes with God." That means finally Pi was able to make the writer believe in God.
For my opinion, I like this movie because of the story and CG. There are a lot of abstracts. It was not just about a boy's and a tiger's adventure, but it was about faith, sorrow, happiness, and friendship. The CG was perfect especially Richard Parker.
Teacher's note: Well . . . all my allusions have been shattered. Richard Parker was only a blue stuffed animal. Of course, this is exactly how movies are made. I know because I watched my daughter "die" in a fiery car crash. Glad it was only an illusion. Can't wait to see the finished movie. Thanks for the CGI photo and the real shot.
As for the scene about God, I agree Pi is meant to make the writer believe in God at this moment. I tend to agree with Olzhas on this point. For me, it is a bit of a stretch to assume this logical assumption means the writer has permission to believe in God at this moment. The writer would be smart enough to realize he was getting permission to make a declaration of faith, and nothing more. This is not enough to make the writer believe in God, but it is a strong assertion, enough to make one ponder and possibly choose. Thanks for posting.
