Hi Mike!

This movie was crazy and hilarious, i really enjoyed it! My favorite character has to be Enrico Pollini. The way Rowan Atkinson portrays a narcoleptic and naive italian man is priceless. Besides, i really like the faces he makes, they never fail to make me laugh. The scene with the cow and the balloon was a lot of fun especially when Duane is hitting all the cows, that must hurt. I also love the Hitler scene at the WWII Veteran Convention because this is inappropriate but the way the director filmed it is amazingly funny.

I think this movie can be enjoyed by everyone, i didn't know how the movie would end and i was not disappointed.

Hey Marine-- Pretty good coverage of RAT RACE here. There is something about the Enrico character that is irresistible. Perhaps his vulnerability attracts our protective instinct. I remember the first time I watched the Hitler scene. I was looking for permission to laugh because, yes, it was devilishly inappropriate, but Jon Lovitz makes everything OK. Thanks for posting.

Hi, this is Christina ;)

I'm really shocked by those ridiculous bets. I think the director is very creative and crazy, but I think some of them are too creepy that make me feel bad. However, the end of the movie was connected to the charity which left us a positive feeling.

The line of the movie is quite simple which is about several groups of people try their best to win the rat race for the money. And of course there were a bunch of tragedies happened on their way. I think the most impressive one is about the squirrel woman. Since there is nothing more than fun in this movie, I still can't help but laugh. Thus, I think this movie is a success.

Hi Christina-- Did you catch the bet where the cleaning ladies were hanging by the window ledge to see which would be the last to fall? And of course the bet on the airplane. Besides being funny, it really says something about gambling addiction. The whole movie might have been nothing more than a zany comedy if not for the surprise ending. Glad you like RAT RACE. Thanks for posting.

Hi! I'm Minkyo.

This movie looked like little ofld one, but it was very funny and interesting.
In the movie, My favorite character was Tracy (Amy Amart), the woman pilot.
Because at first, she was a very attractive and pretty lady but she became crazy!
My favorite scene is also her part. The scene that Tracy chase his boyfriend by helicopter.
And the scene taht all tha money is donated for children [spoiler] is my favorite scene, too.
I think that the movie gives us many lessons.
"The most important thing in life is not money." :!:

Hey Minkyo-- Thanks for being an early responder to RAT RACE. I like Tracy's character too. I don't think I'd want to be her boyfriend, though. The ending underlines the whole theme of the film -- life is not money. So happy you like this movie.

Hi, Mike! This is Goer.

I really enjoyed this movie! :D

My favorite character in the film is Enrico Pollini, because he is always funny and optimistic. I think he may be the only one person in the movie that isn’t really that greedy like the rest of the competitors. At least, he never tries to lie or cheat on other people.

In my opinion, the rat race is just a game reflecting the reality of the human nature in a funny and interesting way. All the bettors and Donald Sinclair are watching the participants like animals in a cage… fighting over for the 2 million dollars; it’s very ironic in some way.

Hey Goer-- There are some great points here. Pollini is different from the others. Perhaps he represents the better side of our nature. Perhaps this is why we like him. Also, I agree that RAT RACE is a microcosm for one aspect of human nature---greed and how it twists our thinking. Thanks for your thoughts.

hi,this is ALICE.
I LOVE this movie. It's FUNNY and also tells [shows] us some experience. It tells us, even though in this movie has different person, different career, and different personality, they focus on the same goal and chase it crazy. However, they donate all money to the charity organizations society at last time. It is so dramatic. Different people have same heart :D

Hey Alice-- "Different people have the same heart." I love this quote, and it is so true for RAT RACE. But do you think Enrico Pollini is like the others? Glad you love this film. And thanks for a smart post.

Hi Mike!

This movie is really funny. They have been chosen for the race which was held by the owner of the hotel in Las Vegas. Movie show several people who attend the race, someone is already crazy, someone just did the bad thing in his work, someone is stricked with his life, and someone who just met her lost daugher and so on. While they were in race, they have many troubles, which is really funny, and they continue to make more problems. Some people got crazy when they got closer to the destination. I wonder how they end, because they seem very obsessed of the money they will take when they win. There might be nothing afterward. But this movie has a good ending, surprising, which is the donation. This was by accident, but all of the competitors seem to like it even tough they had a hard time giving up all that money they could have gotten. So the person who start this race and those who had bet for the participant was only upset about the donation. I think this does have a nice story, a lot of fun, and good ending. I'm glad that i finally saw this. :D

Hey HyeonJi-- I especially like how this post points out that each of the contestants in the RAT RACE is different, yet they all are bonded by their common desire, or should I say common greed. As others have mentioned, the ending makes this unlikely story all worth it. Big thanks for a lively thought piece.

Hi Mike :) At first, I thought "Rat Race" would not make me interested in the movie but actually it was kind of slammin'!
On the whole, I couldn't stop laughing while watching the movie, so that means "Rat Race" blew me away :p

Mr.Donald Sinclair who is a rich hotel owner in Las Vegas wanted set six gold coins up to a gamble machine and the casino owner made people who got the gold coin compete each other for obtaining two million dollars! In other words, Donald Sinclair was also gambling by taking advantage of people just to make his free time more fun. Six lucky people would participate in a treasure hunt and they headed to New Mexico in which the money were.Of course, the contestants had a very strong desire to get the prize. In the end, the two million dollars had donated to children who couldn't eat enough food or even suffer from some kind of bad circumstances. I completely had no idea that the mony would be used for that way.

I really loved each of characters including Enrico, Duane & Blaine, Vera, Randy, Owen, Tracy, and Nick!
I really cannot forget the phrase that "You should have bought a squirrel". I thought a woman who taught a short cut for Vera and her daughter because she was kind but the thing is that the woman was so mean haha. I was so astonished but enjoyable simultaneously when Tracy was about to stop by his boyfrind's house during her flight to Mexico with Nick;however,Tracy found out her boyfriend was cheating on her with his ex and then she was chasing her boyfriend like crazy woman!
I wish I could talk about all of the characters but I'm sure it will be longer so I probably should stop here.

Thank you for showing "Rat Race"!

Hey Yuna-- Yeah, I know I should have bought a squirrel. I'm glad you felt that RAT RACE was better than expected. It is a very over-the-top comedy and I think a classic of its kind. You've written quite an inspired post here. Thanks for sharing your insight.

Regard,-- mike  www.moviesgrowenglish.com  :o

Hi,

I really like the movie.
It's true the movie was and old one (2001) , but it is extremely funny and hilarious

I actually like all of the characters, but the best one was Enrico Pollini ( The Italian guy :) )

the best moment was when he arrived to the destination before them, and when they arrived, everyone was trying to open the box while he was sleeping

I think the movie is really good and it has a message at the end of the movie when they all donated the 2 million dollars that they won.
Also, because it has more than a story in one story.

Abdullah-- This is a great post, almost as funny as the RAT RACE itself! And you make a great point to say that it is more than one story but a collection. Thanks for a fun post.

It really was a funny enjoyable movie.
My funniest scene is when the two women ride the rocket car and they had weird and funny face expressions.
Also their moves when they got out of the car; it was comical!

Hi Reem-- I especially like how the mom and daughter talk their way into the rocket car. Then they set a land speed record. Faster than a speeding bullet. Most of the characters seem to bounce from one disaster to another before they somehow arrive in Silver City. Thanks for a concise post.
