This movie is good for me . It's funny sometimes and it's exciting when they were shooting. I also like Johny Depp. He can play in any role of movie. However, sometimes it was boring. I would give 7/10 for this movie

Lone Ranger gave me some sense of American history. Even though it is about historical events, it's not boring. Jonny Depp played very funny. Probably I won't watch it again because I don't like mystical things like that white horse that helped them everywhere. I'm not fan of the movie. It's just an average movie.

Teacher's note: "Just an average movie" I'm so saddened you didn't like The Lone Ranger more. It was a personal favorite from last year (entertaining and educational). IMHO, the resurrection of John Reid in the hands (hoofs) of Spirit Horse, later to be named Silver, was a bit hokey. Yet I had fun with it partly because Tonto kept suggesting the horse might be stupid, or maybe it was just that nature was "out of balance." In any case, it was Tonto's read on the situation that suggested mysticism to me.

The Lone Ranger may have had trouble at the box office because of how it shifted gears between comedy, historical drama, mysticism, and action one too many times. Didn't bother me, but I may be alone here. I'm glad that you like some things about the movie. Thanks for an honest expression.

I liked this movie. It is full of action and funny moments. Jonny Depp is as usual COOL. His character in the movie is very interesting. He plays the role of serious guy, but he is still joking and his jokes are very funny even though he did not smile during the movie at all. Yes really I did not notice his smiling. In addition, I like historical movies too. It gave us the sense of native Indians and how they lived and what they were. Overall, this is another buddy movie that I liked most. Thank you Mike for showing it.

My last comments will be about the class: I liked your class. I learned many new vocabulary and met with "crazy" and interesting students in this class. I wish I could stay and study in your class, but I have to go to Kazakhstan. I have two list[s] of teachers, the first one is "so so" teacher, the second one is "very perfect and funny" teachers. You will be and you are in the second list. Thank you for this amazing 6 weeks Summer A session.

I am thrilled to be able to have a positive impact on my students, and to think they are from such far corners of the world, places I may never see in my lifetime. . . Places like Kazakhstan. But I am touched by the people from these places who visit and attend my classes. My best effort is the least I can do in thanks. I hope I have achieved this modest goal.

As for The Lone Ranger, glad you recognize how the film is able to capture a sense of the tragedy of the American Indians in our history. This element comes across, even as the film entertains with comedy, adventure, and action. Lots of it. I'm disappointed that The Lone Ranger was considered a box-office failure. I attribute this loss to poor marketing and that the movie was perhaps a little too long. Still, when I saw The Lone Ranger on the big screen, it looked magnificent. It made me want to revisit the Navaho Indian reservation in Northeast Arizona where some of the scenes where filmed.

Because Tonto thought John Reid died and dug grave for him[,] but he woke up and then they became good friend[s]. I like the theme that they fought on the train. It was very nice CG and good action scene. He portray how the American and the Indian was [were] becoming friend[s]. I think it like the first step of the US.

I think this movie is very good for buddy movie. They have every kind of categories such as some scene is romantic then it is a comedy scene. I give this movie 8/10. I like it.

When we have some problems in our life, people always seek legal advice to protect own selves. But sometime laws can't solve all problems. There are many injustice things in the world, although we tried to fight against all the unfairness, the truth is quite other than what you think.

John Reid (Lone Ranger) and Tonto are just like Batman and Robin, both of them have a strong sense of justice and ready to help the weak and use their own power to fight against crime. In my opinion, it seems simple[,] but it is actually complicated. The courage which they had is definitely worth[while] to learn [from].

Teacher's note: I never thought of the Batman and Robin reference. I get the similarity. In fact, much of the super-hero mythology in American literature is the same idea. Superman sells a lot of comic books and movie tickets because everyone needs a super hero once in a while (as you point out). Thanks for a cool post.

The Lone Ranger is a unique movie with its own movie style. In this movie, Tonto and Reid meet each other, start a series of adventures, and fight for the truth and take revenge. This movie reflects the real world we live, and we can figure out that justice sometimes is not that perfect as people think. In the reality, people always pursue the justice with frustration, difficulties or failure as the Tonto and Reid do.

In general, this is a good movie. Despite of [Even though] this movie is not my favorite movie style, I still give this movie a good evaluation. In addition, thank you Mike for teaching us in the film class. I really enjoy the movie time. I do not have elective class in summer B, but I will miss your class definitely. Thank you!

John Reid (The Lone Ranger) and Tonto become allies because a long story, at the beginning John tried to handle the situation on the train when Butch tried to escape but it went wrong and Butch hold John in his place instead, from her John and Tonto met and fight together against Butch because of the cuffs on their hand, after they made it on the ground John's brother came and catch Tonto back to the prison, after a while Dan and all the rangers went out to kill Butch and his guys , but Butch made a trap and killed all the rangers. Tonto found his own way to escape and followed the rangers then he made a trade with most of them even they are dead, while he is making the trades the Spirit horse came to bring on of them back to life the horse chose John but Tonto want Dan instead of John because John is so weak and has no experience, then the horse bring John back to life after a while they discovered that they want the same target that they want to kill, even though John wasn't want to kill him but justice at the beginning.
