As many American films this film [is] about relationship between family members or other types of relationships. It doesn't matter. Anyway it is about relationships. And I like it. At the beginning of this film we have been seeing a young businessman, who liked money. Charlie Babbitt is going to importing four Lamborghinis to Los Angeles for resale.
Soon his dad died and left his millions to a mysterious trust fund. After that Charlie decided to solve this problem. Once he said to his girlfriend, Susanna: "When I was a kid and got scared, the Rain Man would come and sing to me" When she asked: "Where is the Rain Man now?" He said: "I just grew up". Ironically Charlie Babbitt learned for the first time that he has a brother, Raymond. Later we saw that Raymond was Rain Man!
His brother was in the hospital, he was autistic. Charlie took his brother out of the hospital and drove with him to Los Angeles thinking it will [would] get him half of their father's money. With them was his girlfriend, Susanna. Charlie was selfish as all businessmen [are]. He didn't think about his brother, he thought about money. One day Susanna said him: "You use me, you use Raymond, you use everybody. After that she left him with his brother .
The fact that she left them pushed Charlie to the care of his brother. He learned about his abilities to account. They won about $80000 in Las Vegas. Charlie attached to his brother. The meet with Dr. Bruner showed it, when the doctor offered him $250000 to walk away from Raymond, Charlie refused. He said, that he is no longer upset about what his father left him, but he wants to have a relationship with his brother.
In the final scene we saw that Charlie tried to stay with brother. We saw sad final scene, when his brother was leaving from him by train Raymond was returning to the mental institution. Charlie promises Raymond that he will visit in two weeks.
Teacher's note: What I like about this post is that it pinpoints the exact plot-point moments that change the course of the story. The fact that Susanna leaves Charley turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to Charley because, as this author points out, he becomes a better person as a result. Thanks, author, for posting.
