Hugo is an interesting, mysterious, and thoughtful movie. After the death of his father, a watchmaker, the protagonist Hugo started to live at a train station with his uncle. He worked fixing watches of the station as his uncle did everyday. As inheritance, Hugo won not only the talent to fix things, but also a mysterious automaton. The boy tried to reassemble it with pieces that he stole from a toy store at the station owning by Papa Georges, that later he discovered that Papa Georges was actually the old filmmaker Georges Méliès, who was an illusionist [who] made more than 500 movies in the past.
This film started full of mysteries, but in the course of the movie, we figured out all mysteries. We found out who Georges Méliès [was], why he was a bitter and sad man, and also what message the automaton wanted to pass through the picture of a ship into a moon. Hugo with Isabelle, goddaughter of Papa Georges, found out the story behind this picture. They became friends in order to live together an adventure that was a mystery about Hugo’s notebook.
I really enjoyed this movie not only because of the story, but also because of the image[s], illusion[s], and effects that were used in the movie. It is a great flashback. We could travel back to old times and discovered how old movies were made.
It is such a touching movie, especially the last scene that Georges Méliés thanks the little boy, Hugo.
Thank you!
Teacher's note: Oh yeah, OH YEAH!! Thank you, author for being the first responder to "Hugo". Truth be told, I get a
little nervous showing a film in class that is a
little "slow" because I think some students may become a
little disinterested.
I am so gratified that you seem to deeply appreciate the wonder of "Hugo" as I do every time I watch this amazing story. Also, I'm in admiration of how you seem to understand all the characters (including the automaton) and their complex relationships to each other.
I'd like to mention that this post incorporates the use of parallel structure along with noun and adjective clauses. These powerful syntax tools allow the writer to effectively communicate the sometimes subtle relationships between ideas as demonstrated herein. Thank you author for this fine piece of writing, and I hope other contributors will take notice. Can you all hear me?
Thank you again!
