It’s World War II.  Rick Blaine owns a nightclub in Casablanca. Like others, he came here to escape the war and his past.  Everything changes when Ilsa, his Paris sweetheart, re-enters his life, but with a new love interest, Victor Lazlo, a heroic freedom fighter who represents everything Rick ran away from.  With stolen letters of transit, Rick might be able to convince Ilsa to leave Victor and escape Casablanca with him.  But in this classic and much-quoted tale of romance and war, nothing happens as planned (Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Peter Lorre, Claude Raines).  Academy Award: Best Picture, Director, Screenplay.   Rated PG (102 min.)  mike laib 2011
