When seven-year old Olive Hoover (Abegail Breslin) is invited to compete in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant in Redondo Beach, California,  her family members agree to join and support her dream to win.  There's Grandpa Edwin (Alan Arkin) who got kicked out of his retirement  home for using heroin, Dad Richard (Greg Kinnear), trying to start a new business, Uncle Frank (Steve Carell), who recently failed at suicide, Brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), who hasn't spoken in a year, and Mom Sheryl (Toni Collette).  Together, they seek destiny in an old Volkswagen and a determination to bond as a family.   Academy Award, Best Screenplay.   Rated R (101min.) mike laib 2012.
