Disney animation and storytelling get an upgrade with the arrival of Moana, a beautiful allegory of the young Polynesian princess, determined to "cross the reef" and by doing so, break the glass ceiling by saving her island, her people, her culture, and her rightful place in the world.  Along her journey, Moana gets help from her grandmother, Maui, the demigod, abandoned by his parents, and even Hei Hei the chicken.  To achieve her goal, Moana must face down Te Kā, the volcano god by discovering its terrible secret,  a secret  we already know.   Voice-overs by Auli'i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Rachel House, & Temuera Morrison.  Two Academy Award nominations.  Rated PG  (107 min.) mike laib 2018.
