Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) has just been promoted to LAPD Narcotics Officer.  It's his first day on the job, and he wants to make a good impression on Alonzo Harris, his new boss (Denzel Washington, Academy Award, Best Actor).  What Jake gradually learns is that Alonzo has a life-and-death problem, and Jake is part of Alonzo's plan to save himself, at Jake's expense.  There isn't much time for Jake to figure out the street, decide where he stands with the law, and save the day, if he can.  Rated R (122 min.)  mike laib 2010.
