One of Hollywood's great sci-fi adventure stories begins centuries ago with a Mayan Indian prediction of the end of the world on December 21, 2012. When Dr. Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) confirms that the Earth's core is heating up, the leading countries go forward with a plan to save the human race. Meanwhile, Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) figures out what is about to happen with the help of Charley Frost (Woody Harrelson), radical radio guy, who tells the truth, as he knows it. While Jackson struggles to save his wife (Amanda Peet) and kids, President Wilson (Danny Glover) tries to save his country and his daughter (Thandie Newton). All the while, Carl Anheuser (Oliver Platt) tries to hold things together as the whole world comes apart faster than anyone knew. Rated PG-13 (158 min.) mike laib 2012.
