In 1950s America, young Hogarth Hughes is a lonely boy without a father . His life changes when he makes friends with a 100-foot-tall robot that eats metal.  The government sends Kent Mansley to find the monster from space and "destroy it before it destroys us."  With help from Dean at the junkyard, Hogarth hides his new friend and teaches him about life's important choices.  But can one small boy save the giant from certain destruction by the government?  Jennifer Aniston stars as the voice of Hogarth's mother, and Vin Diesel as the Giant, in this heartwarming and culturally-rich animation. Rated PG  (86 min.)   mike laib  2011
