Based on the 1925 literary classic, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, this is a story about the birth of the American Dream and the dark side of new money.  Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a man of mystery who likes to host big parties.  He is in love with Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan).  Her rich husband, Tom (Joel Edgarton) is not very happy about all this.  We see the developing conflict through the eyes of Nick Carraway (Toby Maguire), a common guy with a keen eye for detail and a deep admiration for Gatsby, who has no idea that he has overstepped his place in society.  Conflict boils to a climax when tragedy, misdirection, and jealousy lead Gatsby into the greatest challenge of his life.  Rated PG-13 (143 min.) mike laib 2014.
