General Hummel (Ed Harris) is a most respected American soldier, but he believes his government has not given proper respect to him and his men.   So, they steal a deadly weapon, bring it to Alcatraz Island near San Francisco, take 81 hostages, and  threaten to fire the weapon into the City if the government does not pay them 100 million dollars.  Stanley Goodspeed (Nicholas Cage) is a government biochemist who goes to Alcatraz to stop Hummel and his men.  John Mason (Sean Connery) is a British agent who was a prisoner at Alcatraz.  Now, he is asked to help Goodspeed stop the terrorists from killing thousands of  innocent people before it is too late in this heart-pounding  action thriller.    Directed by Michael Bay.  Rated R (136 min.) mike laib 2012.
