Carl Fredricksen (Edward Asner) and his wife Ellie grow old together with no children.  When Carl becomes a widow, his life is empty until he and a young boy named Russell (Jordan Nagai) set off on an adventure in Carl's house which is lifted into the sky by 20,000 balloons.  Carl plans to find Paradise Falls in South America, a place he and Ellie always dreamed of visiting.  When Carl and Russell arrive, they find Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), the long-lost famous explorer and his airship, the Spirit of Adventure.  But new friendship becomes a life-and-death struggle when Muntz learns that Carl and Russell have found the very bird that he has spent  his whole life looking for.  Academy Award, Best Animated Feature and Music.   Directed by Pete Docter.   Rated PG  (96 min.) mike laib 2012.
